Norway EV Sales @ 90+% 2025

Norway, with its abundant oil and gas reserves, has long been a global leader in sustainable transportation.

The country’s electric vehicle (EV) market has surged from less than 1% of total auto sales in 2010 to an impressive 88.9% last year—a trend that shows no signs of slowing. Norway is now close to achieving its goal of selling only electric cars by 2025.

Meanwhile, in Canada, EVs made up just 16% of new vehicle sales in 2024. Given the government’s poor planning, unfulfilled promises, inadequate infrastructure, and lack of incentives, reaching 100% EV sales within the next decade seems highly unlikely. The solution? Canada should look to Norway—the global expert in EV adoption—and follow its successful model.
