Protein Powder Report - Found Lead

Consumer Reports tested 23 protein powders and found that over two-thirds contained more lead per serving than what’s considered safe for an entire day—some with levels up to ten times higher.

Experts urged consumers to avoid Naked Nutrition’s Vegan Mass Gainer and Huel’s Black Edition (not sold in Canada) and limit daily use of many other products due to high levels of lead and contaminants.

Plant-based powders showed the highest lead concentrations, while animal-based options had lower levels.

Experts emphasize moderation, recommending that protein powders be used only occasionally rather than every day.
