A collaborative effort led by Ontario Power Generation (OPG), alongside Forests Canada and more than 30 partners, has successfully planted 10 million native trees and shrubs across the province—marking a major step toward a more sustainable Ontario.
Trees are vital in capturing and storing carbon, making them an important tool in addressing climate change. They also support biodiversity by providing wildlife habitat and help strengthen ecosystems by stabilizing soil, improving water retention, and reducing the effects of flooding, drought, and other climate-related pressures.
In addition to environmental gains, OPG’s investment in nature-based solutions contributes to economic growth throughout Ontario. Large-scale tree planting initiatives create jobs, enhance agricultural soil quality, and help communities better withstand flooding and extreme weather.
