ecoMVMNT Leadership - Canadian John England
Our first ecoMVMNT Leadership (EL) recipient in 2022 is John England who first visited the Arctic in 1965.  Since then the Edmonton professor and scientist has dedicated over 50-years of his life to uncovering environmental patterns in the North.
In 2019, John England was named to the Order of Canada for his lifelong contributions to research in the Canadian Arctic and environmental advocacy.  He's used this wealth of knowledge to demonstrate the changes in climate due to global warming and to demand that attention be urgently paid to these areas.  Professor England has a long list of environmental accomplishments - mentored hundreds of students, won the Northern Science Award, played a key role in the establishment of Quttinirpaaq National Park on Ellesmere Island, and has even been named one of the Canadian Geographic Society's 100 greatest explorers.

Congratulations Professor England for being our first EL recipient.  All Canadians salute you for your passion, dedication, contribution, and invaluable knowledge in making a difference for our environment, not only in Canada but also around the world.
