Did you know that Thermal Coal is the world’s dirtiest fossil fuel and Canada continues to export millions of tonnes to other countries including the U.S.
While thermal coal is being phased out in Canada currently the extraction from Canadian coals is having a direct impact on communities here, especially on Indigenous Peoples.
The federal government recently answered the public’s outrage by committing to ban the export of thermal coal by the year 2030, but that’s too far off. There is no excuse to continue exporting thermal coal until 2030. We have the technology to replace it with cheaper, healthier, and cleaner renewable energy.
